Anonymous to retaliate against Mexican drug lords in OpCartel

What seems to be the Veracruz, Mexico faction of Anonymous recently posted a video (English version) demanding the release of a member allegedly detained by the Zetas cartel.

Although the video doesn’t reveal the hacktivist’s name, the character wearing Fawkes mask says the drug lords` victim was kidnapped while distributing fliers and printed messages on the streets of the Mexican city during Paperstorm Operation.

If they don`t free the hostage, the drug lords and their colluders’ identities risk to be exposed: “For the time being, we will not post photos or the names … of the taxi drivers, the journalists or the newspapers nor of the police officers, but if needed, we will publish them including their addresses, to see if by doing so the government will arrest them. [“¦] We all know who they are and where they are”.

According to another blog post (in Spanish) detailing the latest Anonymous action, codenamed Operation Cartel, the hacktivists have assembled “a special task force dedicated to this issue”, Moreover, they ask all those who “are not properly protected” to refrain from participating and stop identifying themselves as Anonymous, by wearing masks or similar insignia.

The ultimatum of Anonymous Veracruz expires by Friday: “You made a huge mistake by taking one of us. Release him. And if anything happens to him, you will always remember this upcoming November 5th”.
